Legal Question in Business Law in California

Canceling Advertising Contract

Hello! I work for a dentist who signed an advertising contract for an entire year. It says ''non cancelable''. Is this a legally binding contract? He only wants to do it for a few months. Thanks.

Re: Canceling Advertising Contract

Is the contract legally binding? Probably. However, to be sure, and, more importantly, to discern what the terms of the contract are, an attorney needs to review the contract.

In contract disputes, the parties frequently dispute the interpretation of the contract, rather than the actual existence of a binding agreement.

Non-cancellation clauses in contracts are perfectly legitimate and binding. There may be other problems with the contract, though, and you might want to have an attorney review it for you. The bottom line is that if your employer didn't want to be obligated for a year, he shouldn't have signed a contract that specifically said he would be.
