Legal Question in Business Law in California
Car adds which give false price
I saw an add for a car for 17,999 dollars. When I went into the dealership
they said they can legally charge me an extra 440 dollars
dealer destination charge. The add did not specify any additional charges
may be applied. I beleive they made an offer of 17,999 dollars and
I accept that offer so they should not be able to add on the addtional
charge. Is there any case law on this subject?

Re: Car adds which give false price
Yes, there is, and it says that you lose. An advertisement is generally not an offer but rather an invitation to conduct business. Accordingly, accepting the advertised price is generally not enough to create a contract and the seller does not breach by refusing to sell. Specific circumstances of a case can take it outside this general rule, though.
