Legal Question in Business Law in California

New Car Rebate Cancelled 3 months after purchase

I purchased a new car at a local dealer in 11/98.

I have an immediate family member who works for

the auto maker of my car and I was able to get the

car at the employee family discount. I was also

given a $400 college grad rebate, as I was also

a recent college grad (8/98) at the time of

purchase, which was applied towards my down

payment. Three months later, in 2/99, I received

a letter from the local dealer demanding a payment

of $400 within ten days stating that my college

grad rebate had been cancelled. There was no

reason given for this, nor any prior

correspondence regarding this matter.

What are my rights? Am I obligated to pay?

Does the dealer have to uphold the agreement

signed at the time of purchase which included

the $400 rebate?

Please advise.

Thank you

Re: New Car Rebate Cancelled

Unless the dealer can offer some further explanation, I would ignore the letter.
