In Delaware is there a section 1542 civil code thats a statute? Or something comparable? Is there any provision that prohibits prior release to a claim?

Re: Civil Code Law

I guess you're asking if Delaware has a law comparable in effect to California's Civil Code section 1542. Since LawGuru attorneys are usually only admitted to practice in one or two states, usually adjacent states, it's not too likely that posing this question as one concerning California law will get it in the hands of someone who knows Delaware law.

Your best bet might be to re-ask the question as one involving Delaware law so it will be directed to Delaware attorneys, but provide them with the entire text of the California law, asking if Delaware has anything similar.

An alternative would be to locate a searchable version of the Delaware civil statutes on line and search for terms such as "general release."

If I have time later today, I might do a little on-line snooping myself and post a follow-up if I find anything.
