Legal Question in Business Law in California

Confidentiality at work?

Where I work there have been issues between my supervisor and me that have been communicated to a family member. I am not a minor and the family member was not employed where I was working. Is this considered a breach of confidentiality on my supervisors part, and, if so, what can I do besides involve HR?

Re: Confidentiality at work?

Probably, but not necessarily. There are a few things an employer might not only be permitted to report to a family member, it might even in extreme cases be obliged to report. This is probably primarily a privacy torts issue (rather than business law)and you might either re-ask under an employment law or torts heading on LawGuru or seek a private attorney in these fields for a confidential and possibly free initial consultation.
