Legal Question in Business Law in California

Conflict of Interest, Medical

A Chiropractor Medical Group(CMG) has asked us to open a Medical Translation Corporation to provide their medical group translation services. The CMG or doctors would own 51% of the corporation. My gut feeling is this may be a Conflict of Interest or possibly an Ethic issue. I know a doctor cannot refer a patient to another medical group if owes any part of it, but does the same apply to interpretation? Their attorneys feel the service for interpretation is non-medical. My current business would not be involved, this is a new venture and a great opportunity.

I don't think I know the answer, but I do believe whoever does attempt an answer may need to know who will be paying the translators. If the payments come directly from the chiropractors and are not rebilled, it may be different from a referral situation.
