Legal Question in Business Law in California

Contract

If a person writing a contract shouldn't it be notirized to be affective? I have a co-worker writing a contract but I told him he needs to get it notarized and another co-worker told me you do not need to.

Thx,

Re: Contract

It depends on the type of contract. Some types of contracts would require a notary, but there are more that do not.

For example, a sale of real property would require a notary, but an agreement to provide goods would not.

Note, however, that the contract for goods may require a 'writing' while some other types of contracts do not require a writing, but this is an entirely different issue.
