Legal Question in Business Law in California

I contracted with a corporation that was suspended. I was paid for all my billings. The corporation has been revived after I stopped doing any work for them. They are threatening small claims court due to a billing dispute that happened six months ago while they were suspended. They were also running the suspended business banking activity through another corporation at the time. Is this legal?

Saying a business is "suspended" is actually a vague term as it could mean a number of things. That said, they are still free to sue you as a business and the fact that they were suspended when the subject of the complaint occurred should not affect the disposition of the case.

Of course, with these kind of issues there can always be more to the story so I would certainly consult a local litigation lawyer before just relying on off the cuff free advice here.
