I have translated a manual, is there a copyright law that permits me to keep the disc file of the translated manual or do I have to turn it over?

Re: Copyright law
A translation is a 'derivative work' and is protected under the copyright of the original. See Copyright Act of 1976, 17 USC 101.
I cannot say whether you are entitled to keep the disc, but you cannot make unfair use of the contents without permission of the copyright owner.
