Legal Question in Business Law in California
Copyrigth Act laws
I am a photographer on the verge of going pro. I recently did a photo session that was free for use of the images in my portfolio. I usually get a release signed but this time I forgot for some reason. I wanted to use one of the images for a business card, do I need permission from the mother or a signed release for that? I understand that I own the rights to the image since I am the author/produced it.

Re: Copyrigth Act laws
There are privacy and right-to-commercial-exploitation issues here as well as copyright issues, and you would be well advised to go back and get a written release before you use someone else's likeness for your own advertising, whether or not you have a common-law copyright due to having snapped the photo.
