Legal Question in Business Law in California
cranky business neighbor
we have a good ventilation system installed in our shop and are proud to say that we maintain highest level of sanitation. Our customers would never complain about lacking of ventilation.
However, this picky neighbor has created little conflict over the past 3 years for unknown reasons. He is now claiming that his other 4 employees are getting sick because of the smell (not sure how the smell gets into his business). He mentioned that he will file a suit if the problem is not fixed.
Any advice on what I should do?

may be worth hiring the right type of inspector to do an evaluation and reading.

What kind of material is being released, are your filtration efforts adequate and up to air code standards? I agree with Mr. Selik that it would be worth it to have the air tested. Maybe have the neighbor present while the air's being tested so he could see it's being done properly. The last thing you need or want is a lawsuit! As an aside, you might talk to your business insurance agent to see if any of the testing might be covered -- especially if it avoids a lawsuit.
