Legal Question in Business Law in California
I was having a custom car built by a small business that took my money and never finished building my car. I made payments for auto parts, accessories and labor cost. This went on for several years. When I first became a customer, the business was not yet an LLC. It became an LLC about 2 years after they took me on as a customer. I know an LLC protects the owners personal assets, however, since I was a customer before and continuously through the business's transition to an LLC, could the owner be personally sued and found financially liable?

Yes, unless you agreed that the LLC would assume the contract and release the original individuals.
