Legal Question in Business Law in California
Our right to distribute flyers
Having recieved many local business promotions through distribution to my kids at school, we went to the school district to have our summer program flyers distributed. We were told that we had to be a non profit corporation. Many years passed until we had the need to incorporate and have a non profit branch of Brand X, but eventually we did.
As many of you know we provide free military memberships to active duty military, financial hardship memberships, scholarship memberships, and contribute memberships to Community fundraisers.
Apparently, now that we have a non profit, RUSD still will not distribute our flyers. The reason given, was that we charge fees.
Hmmmmm.
Looking now at some flyers I have recently recieved through this distribution system..
Ramona Council of Arts Unlimited Non Profit- Charges Fees
Mad Science- not non profit- Charges Fees
Metropolitan Education Theatre network Non Profit Charges Fees
This list goes on and on
I am thinking this seems discriminatory. Anyone know something else about this ?
