I agree with Mr. Perry that the car repair should be the employer's expense.

This is nonsense to demand an employee fix a company vehicle unless he was grossly negligent in its care and use. If you crashed it, they might charge you for repair, but it is their vehicle and their responsibility to keep it normally maintained or repaired.
