Legal Question in Business Law in California
Employment/Estoppel
Hi, when I was offered a job at a big
electronics retail store, they promised
to pay me US$9.75. When I got my
first paycheck it showed that I was
being paid US$8.50 an hour. The
manager told me that they would fix
it and in my next paycheck it would
show the difference of the first
paycheck and I would get paid
US$9.75. On my next two paychecks
I still got paid US$8.50. Is this
considered an estoppel? What can I
do?

Re: Employment/Estoppel
This is why you should always get all job offers in writing. If you do have the offer in writing, write, do not call, the company HR department. If this does not work contact the State Labor Commissioner, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.
