Legal Question in Business Law in California
I am about to enter an international skill-based competition with legal restrictions to certain countries but the USA and UK are included in the countries. I am in the process of registering my business in the UK and US, can I go ahead and enter the competition on the basis of legality of my business entity? If I do, will be eligible for the prizes as a representative of the business?
1 Answer from Attorneys
That will depend on the rules of the contest, as well as on what country/state/province it's in. If you're asking whether registering a foreign business in the U.S. makes the owner a U.S. resident under American law, then the answer is no. But if the contest is being run in another country, its rules would be interpreted according to that country's laws. That, in turn, could lead to a different answer.
