Fax usage
I heard it may be illegal to market or solicit via the fax machine. Is this true? What exactly is the law around fax machine usage?

Federal law prohibits the use of a fax to advertise goods or services. 47 U.S.C. 227. A person who receives a faxed advertisement can sue for $500. Treble damages for knowing and willful violations of the law.
California law regulates the use of faxes to market goods and services. Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code section 17538.4.
