Forfeiture of payment

Hello,

I was hired as an independent contractor (mystery shopping) to complete a job requiring a purchase. The purchase is reimbursed and a contractor's fee is paid. The company's policy is:

''All verification materials should be uploaded during or after submitting assignment data. All receipts should

received within 7 days of the evaluation date. Any forms not received within 30 days of the evaluation date will forfeit ALL Contractor Payment and reimbursement.''

Is this legal or should I be able to get reimbursed for all completed jobs? I am pretty sure that since the data has already been submitted to their client and they have already been paid.

Yes I'm also inclined to think that you should still get paid if they got paid everything they would have had you submitted the receipts on time. But if they lost money because of your delay, then your claim may have to be for a lesser amount or may possibly even be precluded. Our CA attorney can research this and give you a legal opinion for a reasonable fee.
