Legal Question in Business Law in California

Fradulent Issuance of Business Phone Number

Are there any legal ramifications for a previous employee who left our company, started his own company and during this process gave ''his creditors'' our home/office business telephone numbers as their reference phone number to reach him in case he defaulted on his liabilities. Of course he is in default and our phones which are mainly used for clients calling for estimates or to schedule a job are now mostly used to inform ''his creditors'' they have been given fradulent info.

We recently discovered this person is also contracting without a valid contractors license.

I would certainly invite you to call up the CSLB and report unlicensed contracting.

As to the telephone number "fraud," I suppose a creative litigator could come up with some theories that would stick in court, but the cost and hassle would far outweigh the damages and satisfaction you'd derive from winning the suit.
