Fundraising Raffle

We are doing a raffle for the local HS. I was wondering what the laws where on our legal take of the money raised in this raffle could be? Is there anything i should be aware of? Please get back to me if you can give me any information.

Certain private non-profit organizations are exempt by statute from the provisions criminalizing most gambling and games of chance such as bingo and raffles. Obtain and read Penal Code section 320.5, which specifically discusses charity raffles. Since the organization must be "private," I assume a public school cannot conduct a raffle, but perhaps its PTA could, if it met the other qualifications.

I cannot, however, express an opinion as to whather the "We" (in your question) would be exempt or not. Read the law carefully and use common sense.
