Legal Question in Business Law in California
Gaming
I was convicted of public intoxication in a incident on new years eve a few years ago. My question is would this conviction stop me from getting a gaming license from the state even if the rest of my record and reputation is good?

Re: Gaming
It's hard to say for sure because the board has some discretion, but ordinarily I believe a misdemeanor conviction for public intoxication with a satisfactory probation or parole period would not be an obstacle. It is usually so-called "crimes of moral turpitude" such as fraud, theft etc. plus most felonies that would be disqualifying. For a more expert answer, ask the license-issuing agency for a copy of its application rules and guidelines.
