Legal Question in Business Law in California
Gift Certificates
Can a gift certificate, or portion, be redemmed for cash value if store policy is to issue in house credit? I have heard that all certificates under Calif. law can be redeemed for cash, no direct mention of this in civil code section 1749.5. Retailer is uncoperative with my request to refund remaining amount of certificate value (under $10). It is not much money to lose, but I would like to know for the future.
