Legal Question in Business Law in California
Grounds for an employer to hold an employees paycheck
I'm a poor college student working part time as a math tutor at a private company. A notice was posted today declaring that the following employees paychecks would be withheld until we bring a copy of our class schedule to the office. Is this legal? I know it is a rule here but can they withhold paychecks for hours already worked? I thought that they could suspend us until we abide by their rules or fire us but what about my money?

Why don't you just take them a copy of your class schedule? Wouldn't that solve the problem? If you had not taken the time to search the internet for this site, you would probably have your check by now.
