Legal Question in Business Law in California
Does she have grounds for recourse?
A friend of mine co-owns a laundromat and was set to sell it for a tidy sum when the landlord informed her that the lease wouldn't be renewed this next summer, thus killing her chances to proceed with the sale of the business. Does she have grounds for a lawsuit, and if so, exactly what are they? Thank you.

Re: Does she have grounds for recourse?
I'm afraid the landlord has a perfect right not to renew your friend's lease. The rights of your friend are limited by the lease. There is no right to extend the lease, unless there is a provision therein which allows for an extension, usually subject to some condition. Have your friend carefully read the lease.
