Legal Question in Business Law in California
If a gym goes out of business and sells it's memberships to another gym, is the person still bound by the contract he/she originally signed? My card is being charged by a gym I didn't join, because the gym I was a member of went out of business and sold it's membership to another gym, of which I want no part of!!

You need to look at your original membership agreement. If you can not locate it, then demand that the new gym provide you their authority and authorization to (1) take over your membership, and (2) require you to complete your mebership agreement with their preecessor through them. This should force them to point out the clause in your original agreement that has this requirement and provide it to you.
