Legal Question in Business Law in California

Gym, Private Club, Adult Enternainment,

I'm trying to Open a Men's Private Club, (sex club) but I'm having trouble with the County. I contacted two Business lawyers, but they don't want to represent my LLC, because of the type of business, plus they say it's going to be a hassle. I registered with the County as a Private Club with membership. I found a property in the County lines and there isn't any residential area's within 800 yards. I'm trying to do everything the right way, but the County will not give me the permits for the building. I was actually thinking of providing and offering some exercise equipment to register as a Gym, (Private Club) but I can't find any insurance that with insure this type of business. I have everything to open, except the Permits and all the legal stuff. Can anybody give me some Advise?

Re: Gym, Private Club, Adult Enternainment,

It's difficult to give you any concrete advice without more information regarding why the county is refusing to issue your permits. It would also be good to know what county you are dealing with.

Are you building a new facility, or renovating an existing structure? Have you checked the zoning? Are you within an incorporated city?

I would recommend against getting permits for one establishment (such as a gym) and operating another (adult entertainment). It will only give your opponents additional arguments for shutting down your business.

Re: Gym, Private Club, Adult Enternainment,

It's hard to provide you with a road map on this without knowing your location as it is very dependent on your county's municipal code.

I have advised adult entertainment businesses in the past and have a strong background in municipal law, please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss further.

All the best,
