Legal Question in Business Law in California
Using hit song on web page
My nephew has a started a business and the name of his business sounds similar to a hit song. He has designed a webpage about his business and wanted to use the hit song as background music on his web page. Who does he need to contact to obtain permission to use the song, or does he need permission to do so?

Re: Try this...
Contact the musician's union to get the numbers of ASCAP and BMI. Then contact them to locate licensing information for the artist of your hit song. Good Luck.
