Legal Question in Business Law in California
My husband and I are partners in a liquor store with another couple..unfortunately we are getting getting a divorce. How will the liquor license be affected?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends upon how it is now held, and what property settlement is incorporated into the dissolution decree, but one thing that's for sure is the ABCB won't allow any newcomers to obtain the license or an interest therein without going through an application process. I have found questions like this are quickly, knowledgably and accurately handled by staff at the local ABC offices. That's where you should inquire......make an appointment, and speak to someone at least one step above an entry-level clerk. What you are told will not be binding on the ABC, but almost 99% of the time will be dependably accurate.
