Legal Question in Business Law in California

I have a idea I want to make into a video game and I need someone else to take a look at it. But, im afraid that they might run off and make it their own. So, Im looking for a Non Disclosure agreement or a confidentiality agreement. Can I just download it online and fill it out the rest and it will be legal or do I have to pay for one?

The strength and application of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) depends on the terms of the agreement. My advise is to seek assistance from an attorney to help you draft the NDA so the language of the agreement will be tailored to your situation.

The problem with using any random NDA which you may find online is that, if you are not careful, you may use an NDA that does not to apply to what you are working on thereby not giving you the protection you need.

I would add that it's very important to check the character and honesty of anyone you select to do this kind of work. An ounce of prevention, etc. -- and intellectual-property lawsuits can be really expensive.

I'd be a little wary of some of the documents you find on the internet. Even though you may have found something that you like, it is best to get some assistance from an attorney. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
