laptop theft

If my laptop is stolen can my employer require me to pay for it?

It depends who owned the laptop. Seriously, if it was not a result of your own negligence, you might try to negotiate with the employer. Besides, the employer should probably have insurance to cover this kind of thing, minus a deductible.
