A mini-storage operator has a right to sell the contents of a space when the rent is not paid, but there are important safeguards and procedures that must be followed, including the mailing of two notices prior to sale. This is spelled out in the Business and Professions Code, sections 21701 through 21715, which you can read at your county law library or most public libraries. Note in particular sections 21703, 21704 and 21705.
