Legal Question in Business Law in California
in a lawsuit where myself and another party are suing 4 former business partners, and also being countersued by the same. Can my co plantiff / defendant settle with out me? This is not a class action lawsuit.

Subject to the particular facts, yes, each party can settle on its own. It may or may not affect the remaining lawsuit against you, and wether or not it reduces any amount you may have to pay.

Yes, each party may settle individually, and in either or both capacities (plaintiff, defendant or both) and with quite variable and fact-dependent consequences for the remaining parties.
