Legal Question in Business Law in California

Would any lawyer take care of report of Paypal and EBay transactions?

I had an Paypal transaction with this lady 3 months ago.I sold a new but store-displayed item and sent it to her the day after I received payment. Now,she contacts me that the item looks so used and not as pictured although I had described in Ebay listing that the item is store-displayed, not brand new in box and I know it's not as much as she described. She said that she studies in UK and just came back to the States within a few days, and recently opened the package. I've offered her to return the item for a refund as I want to see the item by myself, so that I know what had happened to the item. I believe that Paypal and Ebay only allows 45 days to return an item after receiving it, I've offered her the same thing although it's been over 3 months. But she refused it. She would like to keep the item and receive a partial refund instead. She also mentioned that she wants to report this incident to police and trading office and get a lawyer as well. Is this possible or she is trying to threaten me?

She won't be able to interest eBay or PayPal due to the amount of time that has passed, and the police aren't going to be interested either.

And as far as a private lawsuit is concerned, that depends upon the value of the item, the amount of money in dispute, the distance to the courthouse where jurisdiction could be obtained, and the relative lunacy of the party bringing suit. All lawsuits are expensive, with the possible exception of some small-claims cases, and suits between parties in different states become very costly. Unless the plaintiff is a real wacko, the chances of a lawsuit are small, and if you are sued you'll probably win.

The fact that she won't return it for a refund sounds fishy enough.
