Legal Question in Business Law in California
Is it legal for a company that has written contract and pays you as an indepentent contractor to delete your gmail account.
Use it at home and at company's office. Email account was deleted and I had it since 2005 with all my personal information and business contacts.
I am know way compensated and have written agreement stating I am an independent contractor. All emails that I sent were from my business contacts, and at no time was any email sent from my gmail account other than when server went down to company owner.

How could the company delete your private account? That's something only you and Google should be able to do. Since you haven't explained what happened, it's hard to say whether what happened was legal.
I don't understand how the company was able to delete your gmail account, unless you gave them your password, etc. Without further information it's not possible to advise. You can consult with an attorney in your area.

I too wonder how this could happen if the account was "yours" - perhaps a more accurate description would be "made available for your use." Or, perhaps you used the company's name as part of the address. What is the company's explanation? If we could hear both sides of the story, we'd be in a better position to advise you.
In short, another entity would not be allowed to access and delete your email account without your permission. Was this a gmail account that was set up by the company for your use?
