Legal Question in Business Law in California

Is this a legal hiring practice?

I recently applied with a company for a job for which I am supreemly qualified having done nearly the exact same job for another company for the past 3 years. I was notified that I was simply not a good fit for the company. It is 2 months later & they have posted the exact same job on the internet. My qualifications match perfectly. It is my opinion that the person to be my supervisor simply does not like me, it it legal to not hire the most qualified candidate simply because you do not like them?

So long as that "dislike" is not based on race, creed, color, religion, or some other prohibited basis - yes.
