Legal Question in Business Law in California
Legal to offer discounts on services to a particular group of people?
I own a wedding planning business in
California and would like to offer 1/2
off all my services to any same-sex
couples getting married.
Is this legal? I have had some advice
(from non-lawyers) that I should be
careful as it I could be sued for
discrimination and that is it not legal
to offer discounts like this to one
particular group.

Sorry, it's illegal discrimination. Since most engaged same-sex couples probably plan to do so before November (when an anti-same-sex-marriage measure is on the ballot) you could achieve the same objective by offering your discount to all comers through November.
