Re: License to practice law
A lawyer admitted to another state must generally also be admitted to practice in California in order to practice here. (There are some exceptions; for example, when a non-California lawyer petitions a court to make an appearance in a case due to some special need or relationship with a client.) All attorneys admitted to the California Bar are listed in the membership rolls of the State Bar. Those records can be reviewed by calling the State Bar offices in Sacramento or by checing on the State Bar membership link on its website. The link to the membership information is http://www.calsb.org/mm/sbmbrshp.htm

An attorney must be licensed by the State Bar of California in order to practice law in California. There are some, minor exceptions. However, if an attorney claims to be able to practice in California confirm this with the State Bar's website: http://www.calsb.org/MM/SBMBRSHP.HTM
