Some contracts for the sale of goods contain, either by specific language or by implication, a warranty that the goods sold are at the time of sale the property of the seller and are offered and sold free from all prior liens. I'd review your purchase contract carefully for any such express warranty, and then if there isn't one, it may be worth asking a local lawyer for a free consultation as to whether there is an implied warranty. Then, if so, and depending upon the size of the lien, you can consider suing to enforce the warranty and selection of the proper court.
