Legal Question in Business Law in California

i went to a local taco bell the previous night to ask if they sold hot dogs, i have been to taco bell once so i was not sure if they did and my mother insisted i ask real quick so we went through the drive through to do just that. when it was our turn and i asked the male on the other end answered by saying, "no...but if you come in you can get one for free." dumbfounded i was in shock my mother was upset and we drove off. i just wanted to know if we have a case here the man had no right making a joke about our mistake and it is obvious that locale has very incompetent and rude staff from our experience but what do you suggest?

Call the manager and complain. Maybe you'll get a free taco or two.

This is not something for which the law provides a remedy. Complain to the owner or manager of the franchise.

There are no laws against incompetence or rudeness, so you don't have a case. This is something you should take up with the manager. She might discipline the employee if she can determine who it was. She might also give you gift certificates or store credit to help make things right. But the law does not require her to do anything.
