Legal Question in Business Law in California
A non-profit organization was created by a group of individuals who are performing artists. The name of the non-profit foundation is derived from the performing artists group. This non-profit conducts its business in California. Is it now necessary to change the name of the non-profit?

None of what you've said immediately suggests a need or reason to change the name of the non-profit. "Derived from" is sufficiently vague to include, or to exclude, confusing similarity. Has someone complained? Has there been any confusion that you know of? Possibly there is some reason not connected with similarity of the names? Please feel free to contact me privately with some details.
Your question implies that something has changed recently, but it doesn't say what. Did you leave out some important facts?
