Legal Question in Business Law in California

Notary Process

If I have a document notarized, what is the verification?

Does the document get returned to the notary who signed for their records? Do they receive a log from the company the document was sent to?

Re: Notary Process

The primary purpose of a notary public is to verify the indentity of the signer. By placing their stamp and signing a notary certificate, he or she is certifying that they know the person or have been presented with reasonable evidence of the signer's identity. The notary must keep a log of documents they notarize, the name, the names and the method used to confirm indentity. It is common practice for the notary to record the license number of the signer and to get at thump print for documents related to real property. The notary does not keep copies of the documents notarized.
