Legal Question in Business Law in California

Does my online advisory board have legal liability?

Hi,

I have a website which sells operations forms to restaurant owners. I want to put the people that helped me create the forms on the website, along with their workplace, name and profile.

The company is a sole proprietorship, so I wanted to know whether or not they had any liability for lawsuits, etc. Also, I am going to call them my ''team.'' These people are not getting paid, so they are not employees. Is there any legal ramifications in the words I use to describe them, ''advisory board,'' ''team'' etc.? Can my customers go after them in case of a lawsuit? Can their current employers (they all work at restaurants) get in trouble if I list there workplace?

Thank you.

Don't make them appear as owners of your company. You can call them your advisory board, but be clear that they are independent of your company. Also get their permission.

In all liklihood, you should not be a sole proprietor. Give us a call or email to discuss the better alternatives.
