Payment of interest on residential rental security deposit

Is there a law in California that requires landlords to pay interest on rental security deposits for single family residences.

No statewide law that I know of.....but several cities (with or without companion rent-control ordinances) have local ordinances requiring payment of interest. These include San Francisco, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, and Santa Monica and possibly others.
