Legal Question in Business Law in California
PayPal allows chargeback to my account
About a month ago I received a 'chargeback' at my PayPal account. The merchandise was delivered 4 months ago and all of a sudden PayPal received a chargeback initiated from the buyer's credit card company.
PayPal would not fight for me on this chargeback. And when I asked PayPal for the buyer's credit card company's info, it said it could not disclose it because of Privacy.
So now, except the name of the buyer, I know nothing about who/where to contact to appeal for this chargeback.
I contacted the buyer via email and he didn't respond.
Any help/advice on how to find a way to appeal to this chargeback is appreciated.

Re: PayPal allows chargeback to my account
I think the matter has to be resolved with reference to the agreement you have with PayPal.....it seems to me what they are doing is within what is permissible under the Uniform Commercial Code's rules and standards, but their rights and your agreement to it should also be spelled out somewhere in the fine print of your agreement. In addition to their right to charge back, I would look for any user guarantees PayPal makes to sellers in order to entice them to use the service. As a buyer, I know they offer certain protection against seller fraud to buyers, but I don't know if it works both ways. Going after the buyer looks like a waste of time unless the amount is huge.
