Legal Question in Business Law in California
do you need to post signs in a business if you install cameras?

That is a complicated question that turns on the nature of the locations of the cameras and the use that will be made of the images, but only if you have an important reason not to want to put up the signs. If you put up signs, you're covered. So unless there's a significant reason not to, I recommend you put up signs.
s a Franchise Attorney I agree with the other attorney answer. Most retail establishment like to display "this area under video surveillance" signs. It discourages theft, etc. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

If you post signs saying "video surveillance" most customers won't even notice them, much less understand what that means. So go ahead.
