As a Franchise Attorney I can say this is not the kind of question that can be answered without a review of your franchise agreement and disclosures in the related FDD Franchise Disclosure Document. If you sell your franchise, there will likely be a noncompete that may be valid in California as incidental to the sale of a business. Before you take any action, consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
