Legal Question in Business Law in California
Using professional sports teams logo and schedules
We recently came up with an idea to place the schedule of our local professional sports team on the back side of our business cards. Is this legal? Do we need permission? What should we watch out for?

yes. these are copywritten / trademarked logos, etc.

There are companies who sell things like this. They are able to do so because they are paying a royalty or a license fee to do so. If you want to do this, you need the permission of the NFL (for example) or hire someone else who has already obtained their permission.

Look out for their lawyer, if you try this without permission. You should contact them to arrange a licensing deal, but expect to pay. Even with a fee, they may or may not be interested, depending on the nature of your business, existing contracts with your competitors, etc.
You cannot use their intellectual property without permission.
If you need the assistance of an California intellectual property attorney, to attempt to negotiate such a licensing deal, or for other related issues, please contact me.
