Legal Question in Business Law in California
I provided a service and was paid in good faith by a $500 check. The check was caeled immediately the next morning. In Calif what is the law? Some states will awward 3 times the amount of the check. This happened a year ago. What is my best recorse?

Your best recourse is to take them to small claims court. You should act fast, as you do have a limited time in which to assert your claim. If you have a written agreement with them, you have four years from the date of breach to file a claim. However, if you do not have a written agreement, you only have 2 years from the date of breach to file a claim. You may be awarded the $500 plus any charge you incurred when the check bounced.
