Legal Question in Business Law in California
purchased a fridge at rent a center in November 2012. I was going to pay it off when they told me it was more than what the contract had stated because of the tax increase in January 2013. Can they add that increase even though the contract doesn't state it.

The contract should govern, I would read the fine print it may have a provision for the increase. If not you may have an issue...

Probably not; the sale was made and complete at the time the contract was executed by the parties, and taxes in effect at that time should apply.
