Well you either negotiate a departure and dissolution of the partnership with your partner, or if you cannot reach agreement on terms of your departure you file a lawsuit called a "dissolution and accounting" action, and the court resolves it.

This question is way too vague to receive any proper advice. Is there a written agreement in place? IF not, was this a general partnership or was a legal entity (LLC or INC) formed?

Absent a written agreement and assuming this is a default partnership, any partner can dissolve the partnership at anytime by simply announcing that they are no longer participating. This, however, does not mean that there are not business affairs to sort out and of course sometimes things can get complicated.

I would absolutely discuss your specific situation over with a lawyer in private before taking any action so you are clear on your legal rights and obligations.
